Tobacco Cessation

Completing this tobacco cessation project strengthened my ability to promote disease prevention through patient-centered education and evidence-based interventions. By applying the Five A’s and Five R’s frameworks, I learned how to assess readiness to quit, provide supportive counseling, and offer practical cessation resources in a nonjudgmental way. This experience increased my confidence in addressing tobacco use as part of routine dental hygiene care and reinforced the important role hygienists play in reducing oral and systemic health risks through prevention-focused patient education.
