Reflective Statement on State Law

Reflecting on the importance of these laws has deepened my understanding of the responsibility that comes with becoming a dental hygienist. I realized that while federal laws create consistent protections, state laws can vary and directly shape how hygienists practice within their communities. Having worked under strict guidelines as a lead assistant, I see how closely regulation and ethical standards are tied to patient trust. This experience emphasized that professionalism extends beyond clinical skills to include accountability to both patients and governing bodies. This evidence supports the program outcome by demonstrating my dedication to practicing ethically and within the legal standards set forth by the ADHA Code of Ethics and regulatory laws. It also shows that my abilities, work attitudes, and professional practices are well-suited for success in the dental hygiene profession.

“Reflection of State and Federal Laws Regarding the Practice of Dental Hygiene

Understanding the state and federal laws that govern dental hygiene is essential for maintaining professionalism and protecting patients. State laws define the scope of practice for dental hygienists, while federal laws provide broader protections for patient safety and public health. My background as a lead dental and surgical assistant gave me valuable experience following HIPAA, OSHA, and state-specific guidelines, which strengthened my awareness of compliance and safety in patient care. Building on that foundation, I now recognize the importance of applying these principles directly to dental hygiene practice. This knowledge ensures that I will uphold ethical and professional standards while delivering safe and effective care.”
